High area performance and perfect handling. Whether it’s tall grass or undergrowth, even on slopes, the AS 701 SM is an all-rounder. Equipped with a slope-capable Briggs & Stratton Series 3 engine with oil and petrol pumps and oil pressure switch, mowing work on slopes is possible without risking engine damage. The 344 cc engine delivers a maximum of 13.0 HP. Enough power even for difficult conditions. The flail mower is driven by a 5-speed gearbox with reverse gear. In the 5-speed range, forward speeds between 1.1 km/h and 3.6 km/h are possible. The AS 701 SM travels 1.7 km/h in reverse. In addition, the rear axle differential is permanently locked, which ensures better handling on slopes and strong traction. A low centre of gravity, a perfectly balanced weight distribution, the AS-Motor steering brake and its 70cm cutting width make it a manoeuvrable all-purpose mower

Sophisticated operation with added security

The AS 701 SM can be conveniently controlled with just four control levers. The automatic parking brake offers optimum safety. This is automatically engaged when the drive lever is released. Whether on a flat surface or on a slope, the flail mower remains stationary. The machine is controlled via the patented steering and brake clutch. When the drive is engaged, the differential lock is permanently locked. It is opened for each individual wheel by simply operating a lever on the left or right. This opens the differential lock on the respective wheel and the AS 701 SM becomes freely movable. If the control lever is pulled further, the respective wheel brakes additionally. This means that the flail mower can be maneuvered comfortably, very easily and, above all, safely with millimetre precision in difficult terrain and on slopes. The Teflon-coated stainless steel Bowden cables guarantee easy and comfortable operation with low operating forces.

The robust flail mower is made for tough applications

Equipped with 20 pairs of Y-flails and a cutting width of 70 cm, the AS 701 SM achieves an area output of up to 2,500 m² per hour and growth heights of up to 100 cm. The flail mower can also cut down dense undergrowth. In addition, the flail mower is mounted on a pendulum and can therefore compensate for uneven ground. The height adjustment of the mower deck can be adjusted centrally in 6 steps from 10 – 100 mm. The movably mounted Y-flails ensure optimal shredding of the clippings and leave a uniform, clean mowing pattern. Thanks to their pendulum attachment, the flails can easily avoid contact with foreign objects. This protects against damage to the blades and the mower. The operator is also protected: a perforated impact guard prevents the operator from being hit by flying objects.
The handlebar can be adjusted both in height and sideways for comfortable use along obstacles, fences and walls. Flail mowers are the most versatile mowers in tall grass.
